Leidos Supports The Children’s Inn As a Partner in Hope and Discovery
In the words of Roger Krone, CEO, “Leidos is a company that’s focused on making the world safer, healthier and more efficient.” As such, Leidos’ corporate philanthropy initiative focuses on partnering with organizations whose mission is to overcome important challenges of our time – including The Children’s Inn at NIH.
As a partner in hope and discovery with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), The Inn’s mission is to support to seriously ill children and their families in search of medical breakthroughs that ultimately improve the health of people worldwide and make better lives possible. Leidos has been a longstanding partner of The Inn, and this year they are a Gold Sponsor for An Evening for Hope gala, The Inn’s largest fundraiser. Their generous contribution of $50,000 enables The Inn to ease the burden of illness to over 1,700 children and families who come through its doors each year.
With the help of Leidos, The Inn can continue to make childhood possible for children who’ve already lived through more than most. In 2013, Leidos employees participated in the design, funding and construction of The Inn’s state-of-the-art playground and park. Most recently, Leidos employees drove their “Leidos Scoop” ice cream truck to The Inn and served ice cream on a sunny afternoon, donning costumes and face masks as part of The Inn’s very own Comic Con.
“The reward that we have received is ten times our investment. We are just thrilled to be involved with an organization like The Children’s Inn, and we look forward to an even deeper involvement in the future,” says Krone.
