COVID-19 Impact on our Volunteer Programs

To help keep our children, teens, young adults and families safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Children’s Inn at NIH has temporarily paused our in-person volunteer program.

Learn more about our COVID-19 guidelines or contact us about virtual opportunities.

The Children’s Inn at NIH relies on the help of 195 dedicated volunteers working regular shifts and hundreds of additional volunteers on an as-needed basis to serve children and families from around the world as they look for help in groundbreaking research studies at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

From greeting our guests with a friendly “hello” at the welcome desk to keeping the kitchens organized and well-stocked, or hosting a fun activity in the evenings, our volunteers are truly the heart of our organization.

Whether you are looking for a long-term volunteer position working a scheduled shift or a short-term volunteer opportunity, we invite you to join our world-class group of volunteers.

Become a volunteer to brighten the lives of children, teens and young adults with rare diseases as they participate in NIH clinical research studies.
