BETHESDA, Maryland (September 25, 2014) – It’s time to polish your vintage vehicle for the 24th Annual Bethesda car show and family day to benefit The Children’s Inn at NIH. The “Come Back to Bethesda Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show and Family Day” will take place on Saturday, October 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. See the finest display of vintage, classic and custom cars in the showroom of Chevy Chase Acura, 7725 Wisconsin Avenue, right down the street from the popular “Taste of Bethesda” event.
This year’s event also features games, activities and performances for and by children of all ages. Bethesda dance studio Joy of Motion will showcase hip-hop companies HYPE and Groove Elements at 11:15 a.m. in front of The Children’s Inn stage on Cheltenham Road. Steve Eckstrom’s local band “Almos Blue,” performs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the main stage.
Also appearing will be Lenny Robinson, who has garnered national attention for his appearances as Batman. He will be available (along with his Batmobile) to pose for pictures between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The “Come Back to Bethesda” fundraiser is vital to The Children’s Inn, a residential “place like home” for seriously ill children and their families who participate in groundbreaking medical treatments at the NIH, the world’s leading biomedical research center. Families stay together in The Inn’s healing environment for as long as they need to stay. Since opening in 1990, over 12,500 families have stayed at The Children’s Inn — free of charge.
“The car show is a thrill for our families,” said Kathy Russell, CEO of The Children’s Inn. “The event gives kids battling serious illness a chance to have fun and provides them with a needed break from long days of tests and treatments.”
“We are grateful to our sponsors,” said Lauren Stabert, Assistant Director of Corporate Giving and Special Events for The Inn. “Special recognition should be given to Presenting Sponsor Chevy Chase Acura and Big Wheel Sponsor Allied Party Rentals.”
Registration for the car, truck and motorcycle show is $15 until October 10th, or $20 the day of the show. Register early at: http://bit.ly/1mDMqkD
