A Visit to the White House Easter Egg Roll

Families and staff members from The Children’s Inn at NIH attended the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, taking part in a tradition that dates back to the Rutherford B. Hayes administration in 1878. Families got to explore the White House grounds, enjoying live music and a variety of exhibitions set up throughout the area.
“It was a beautiful day for our families to take part in a unique DC experience,” said Family Program Operations Manager Kristin Arabian. “I know some families rearranged schedules to be able to take part. This is something they don’t want to miss.”
In addition to having a chance to take part in the Egg Roll itself, families were able to visit exhibitions set up to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary and the launch of the Artemis II NASA flight. There were light snacks provided, as well as fresh produce and flowers. A military band provided live music at an auxiliary stage and the Easter Bunny made rounds through the crowd.
The Inn was invited by the office of First Lady Melania Trump. Mrs. Trump visited The Inn for a Valentine’s Day celebration, the fourth time she has visited in her husband’s two terms. It is also the fourth year in a row that The Inn has been invited to the event, including two times by former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
