The Children’s Inn at NIH 2018 Gala to Feature Line-up of Star Speakers

BETHESDA, MD – The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health, a private nonprofit, today announced the line-up of special guest speakers during The Inn’s 5th annual ‘An Evening for Hope’ Gala at the Ritz Carlton Tysons on April 28, 2018. This sold-out event will feature National Cancer Institute Director Dr. Norman Sharpless as the keynote, television personality and FOX 5 anchor Tony Perkins as the emcee, and NIH Principal Deputy Director Dr. Lawrence Tabak will provide welcoming remarks. They will also be joined by Gala Chair Todd Pantezzi, NETE President Jolly Vasani and families from The Inn.

“It is an honor to participate in The Children’s Inn at the NIHs’ annual fundraising gala and to witness how attendees and supporters are changing the lives of children around the world and advancing medical discoveries for generations,” said Dr. Sharpless. “Donations make The Inn and NIH partnership possible and Inn residents have helped contribute to the development of chemotherapy, immunotherapy as well as genome mapping and therapy. We are thankful for all of the support and I look forward to continue to supporting this mission professionally and personally.”

An Evening for Hope is The Inn’s single largest fundraiser and all net proceeds go towards providing “A Place Like Home” to more than 1,700 children and families who stay at The Inn each year. The Gala draws about 800 supporters, including more than 100 senior government executives who are dedicated to helping children and advancing medical research.

“’An Evening for Hope’ Gala is a special night of the year where we join together to celebrate the bravery of Inn residents, recognize the NIH as the nation’s premier biomedical research institute, and unite in support of medical advancements,” said Jennie Lucca, CEO, The Children’s Inn at NIH. “I am confident that 2018 will be a year of growth and progress, and The Gala helps to make this happen.”

Gala guests will enjoy dinner, exciting live and silent auctions, and networking throughout the evening as well as an after party. An esteemed group of attendees from government officials, industry leaders and Inn families, will dine, mingle and collectively support the efforts of The Children’s Inn at NIH.
