DC’s Top Celebrity Chefs Turn Out for a Chef’s KitchINN Event at The Children’s Inn at NIH

BETHESDA, Maryland (September 18, 2014) – Some of DC’s most talented chefs helped to celebrate the opening of two highly anticipated, sparkling, remodeled kitchens at The Children’s Inn at NIH on Monday, September 15th. The chefs, along with TV news personality and wife of The Washington Nationals Manager, Erika Williams, donated their time and finest culinary talents to benefit The Inn.

The DC-­‐area chefs who cooked up an unforgettable evening of food and philanthropy included: Spike Mendelsohn (Good Stuff Eatery, Béarnaise and We, The Pizza), Will Artley (Pizzeria Orso), Chris Clime (PassionFish), Ris Lacoste (RIS/RIS Union Market), Matt Newland (Wildwood Kitchen), Shizu Okusa (JRINK), Kirk Francis (Captain Cookie Food Truck) and Mixologist Josiah Alexander.

“We are grateful to these wonderful chefs for donating their time, talents, and delicious food to help The Inn thank those who gave generously to renovate these kitchens,” said Kathy Russell, CEO of The Children’s Inn. “These kitchen provide our families with the opportunity to cook, eat and gather together as they would at home.”

The Children’s Inn at NIH is a residential “place like home” for seriously ill children and their families who participate in groundbreaking medical treatments at the NIH, the world’s leading biomedical research center. While the NIH takes care of the child’s medical needs, The Inn tends to the child’s heart, soul and spirit. Since opening in 1990, over 13,500 families have stayed at The Inn free of charge.
