The Children’s Inn at NIH Recognized as Top Charity

BETHESDA, Maryland (May 11, 2017) – The Children’s Inn at NIH, a private nonprofit organization located in Bethesda, Maryland, has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s most transparent and fiscally responsible charities.

The Children’s Inn again earned the highest-possible 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the largest charity evaluator in the United States.

“We’re proud to be recognized again as a top-performing charity, and we will continue to work hard to keep earning this recognition year after year,” said Jennie Lucca, CEO of The Children’s Inn. “Our mission to create ‘A Place Like Home’ guides us in everything we do – both for the families of children with critical illnesses who reside with us as well as for our family of employees.”

Opened in 1990 across from the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical Center, The Children’s Inn provides free lodging and a wide range of educational, therapeutic and recreational services to families of children with critical or rare illnesses who are enrolled in clinical trials at the NIH, often their last and only hope.

Founded in 2001, the nonprofit Charity Navigator evaluates more than 8,300 charities every year to rate their financial performance in order to help donors make smart giving choices and propel charities to continually improve their performance. To rate each charity, Charity Navigator assesses the financial health as well as the accountability and transparency of each charity. For more information, visit www.chairtynavigator.org.
