Police Hold 'Santa Escort Ride' To Benefit Children's Inn At NIH

Santa will be visiting spots around the county with the Montgomery County Police Department to benefit The Children's Inn at NIH.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Santa Claus is coming to town on a Harley motorcycle. The jolly old Saint Nick and the Montgomery County Police Department will pay visits to various Montgomery County spots Wednesday, Dec. 13 to benefit The Children's Inn at NIH.

Santa and his elves—motor officers with MCPD—will travel throughout the county on their motorcycles collecting gifts and donations from local businesses and organizations to bring to the children and families at The Children’s Inn at NIH.

The day will end with Santa and police officers presenting gifts for the children and their families at NIH.

The procession of over 30 uniformed policemen led by Santa on a Harley has become a highlight of the holiday season for the last several years.

Montgomery County Police are seeking financial donations from local organizations and businesses. All donations raised from this event will help support operational expenses as well as programs for the entire family. These services include recreational, therapeutic, wellness, educational and spiritual programming.

To provide a financial donation online, please visit this site and enter your information. You may also mail your donation to The Children’s Inn at NIH, Attn: Donation Department in c/o Santa Police Ride, 7 West Drive, Bethesda, MD 20814.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 10 a.m: Germantown Station at 20000 Aircraft Dr., Germantown
  • 10:45 a.m.: Kentlands Market Square at 121 Market St., Kentlands
  • 11:15 a.m.: Public Safety Headquarters at 100 Edison Park Dr., Gaithersburg
  • 2:30 p.m.: Fair Hill Plaza - Olney Town Center at 18169 Town Center Dr., Olney
  • 3:10 p.m.: Ellsworth Drive near Starbucks at 915 Ellsworth Dr., Silver Spring
  • 3:50 p.m.: Veteran's Park at Intersection of Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues
  • 4:30 p.m.: The Children's Inn at NIH (private event, patients only)
