Pocono Lake Region Half Marathon cancelled

WAYNE/PIKE - The third annual Pocono Lake Region Half Marathon, that was set for Sunday, September 27, has been called off.

“It is with utmost disappointment and sadness that the Pocono Lake Region 13.1 committee announces the cancellation of the half marathon…,” said Debbie Gillette, Executive Director, Chamber of the Northern Poconos.

The committee states “the circumstances for this cancellation are beyond our control and we genuinely thank and appreciate everyone who is currently training, and all the great athletes who participated in past events.  We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Gillette stated in the announcement that the Chamber thanks and acknowledges all of the event’s volunteers. These include all those involved in traffic and safety control, school districts, local townships, media partners, law enforcement, sponsors, residents along the race route, and emergency services for contributions that go above and beyond the call of duty.

Anyone already registered for the 2015 event will be receiving a refund check in the mail.
