The Children’s Inn is pleased to partner with hundreds of local and national organizations whose support helps to make childhood possible for the more than 1,500 children and families that stay here each year. Although The Inn empowers the work of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) clinicians who strive tirelessly to find treatments for life-threatening diseases, The Inn actually receives minimal funding from the NIH. We depend on support from companies like yours to carry out our critical mission.

Since our founding, The Inn has worked with corporate partners. In fact, very generous contributions from Merck & Company and The Merck Foundation enabled both the building of The Children’s Inn and our subsequent expansion to The Woodmont House. Since that time, corporate partners have continued to support every facet of our operations—from sponsoring events to conducting service days to providing consulting services that help us stay abreast of best practices.

Opportunities to Partner with The Inn

There are three main ways your company can become involved:

Provide Program Support

The Inn’s family programming team offers more than 1,300 recreational, educational and therapeutic activities each year—for patients, parents, siblings and caregivers alike. With support from companies like yours, we empower kids to feel like they can do everything and anything, such as horseback riding, exploring the Smithsonian, staying on top of school work, playing with The Inn’s therapy dog, going to sporting events, and perhaps attending summer camp for the very first time. Corporate and foundation funding is essential to underwriting these programs. Sponsor a Special Event or Support a Matching Gift

If your company is interested in providing philanthropic support, while simultaneously having a great time networking with top business leaders and government officials, The Inn’s four major special events are for you. Although The Inn is located on the NIH campus, we’re not a government agency. We are a nonprofit organization that receives a majority of our funding from private philanthropy—so none of our work could happen without the generosity of our corporate and foundation partners.

Each year, The Inn’s special events calendar includes the following:

Congressional Reception
This must-attend event for government relations professionals welcomes and recognizes The Inn’s Congressional supporters.

A WINNter Affair
More than 400 young professionals, representing government agencies, professional services and IT firms, gather each year to support The Children’s Inn with a fun night of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dancing, organized by The Inn’s Young Ambassadors Council (YAC). Sponsoring this event enables your company to simultaneously support The Inn’s mission, while providing opportunities for brand recognition with influential young professionals. The event is also an opportunity for your workforce to gain leadership experience by helping to plan and promote the event and networking experience while attending A WINNter Affair.

An Evening for Hope
The An Evening for Hope Gala is The Inn’s premier event, bringing together more than 800 participants, including nearly 100 senior government leaders from the Department of Health & Human Services, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Defense Health Agency, as well as executives from the area’s leading companies, to support The Children’s Inn. The gala features top tier entertainment, delicious food and wine, and exciting live and silent auctions.

Golf INNvitational
Every year, 130 golfers, including representatives from many of the area’s top professional services firms, play 18 holes on a beautiful course and then gather for awards, an auction and a dinner reception to benefit The Inn.

Matching Gift Drives
The Inn is also pleased to partner with companies that are interested in supporting consumer-facing matching gift programs or that provide matching for employee donations.

Engage Your Employees in Volunteering

The Children’s Inn does a lot with a little, due in large part to an incredible team of volunteers. The work completed by our passionate corps of more than 2,000 volunteers is equivalent to that of 10 full-time employees. Corporate groups volunteer at The Inn nearly every day, providing a meaningful community service and employee engagement experience for employees while also providing a much appreciated hot meal, thoughtful treasure or fun program for children and their families.
